Slurry pumps are widely used in many industrial fields, mainly for transporting media containing particles. However, in relatively complex working conditions, slurry pumps may suffer significant wear during daily use. To extend the service life of slurry pumps, the best approach is to enhance their daily maintenance.
The use of slurry pumps must ensure the reliability of the slurry pump assembly system and the slurry pump pipeline system. Reverse rotation of the motor is strictly prohibited. It is essential to ensure that the axial direction of the pump shaft is consistent with the arrow direction indicated on the pump casing. During the trial operation of the motor, it must be completely disconnected from the pump. It is strictly prohibited for the motor to drive the pump shaft to rotate in the opposite direction. Otherwise, it will cause the impeller to fall off, the pump to get stuck and its parts to be damaged.
2. Some components of the slurry pump are vulnerable parts. During daily use, attention should be paid to the wear and tear of these vulnerable parts, and they should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner. During the maintenance or replacement of the vulnerable parts of the slurry pump, it is necessary to ensure correct assembly and reasonable clearance adjustment to avoid the occurrence of tight friction. When connecting the inlet and outlet of the pump and the pipeline, if it is a high-chromium alloy lined pump, the inlet and outlet sealing gaskets must be properly placed. If it is a rubber-lined pump, the rubber sleeves at the inlet and outlet must be flattened and tightly pressed. Otherwise, it will cause a large amount of slurry leakage from the pump interface and the pump cavity, making the pump unusable.

3. The suction pipeline system of the slurry pump must be free of air leakage. Meanwhile, during operation, it is necessary to pay attention to whether there is any blockage at the suction inlet. The media that slurry pumps need to handle often contain solid particles. Therefore, the grating placed in the pump inlet tank should meet the requirements of the particles that the slurry pump can pass through, reducing the possibility of large particles or long fiber materials entering the pump body and causing blockage.
4. The water pressure and water volume of the bearings of the slurry pump must comply with the relevant technical regulations. During operation, the tightness of the packing should be adjusted or replaced at any time according to the running conditions; otherwise, it may lead to slurry leakage at the shaft seal. In addition, the timely replacement of the bearing bushings of the slurry pump also has the same significance. If it is a secondary impeller with packing seal, grease or shaft seal water can be added. If it is a packing or mechanical seal, shaft seal water must be added. Moreover, before starting the pump, clean, sufficient water volume and pressure of shaft seal water should be added.
5. If the bearings of the slurry pump need to be replaced, it is essential to ensure that there is no dust inside the bearing assembly and the lubricating oil is clean. Meanwhile, during the operation of the slurry pump, the temperature of the bearings should generally be maintained between 60℃ and 65℃, and should not exceed 75℃ at most; otherwise, it is considered an abnormal situation.
