The impeller of the stainless steel sand pump is the most important component in the operation of the stainless steel sand pump. If the impeller malfunctions and wears out, it will directly affect the operation of the water pump. So, what are the causes of the wear of the impeller of a stainless steel sand pump?

The geometric parameters of the impeller will affect the wear of the impeller and determine the performance of the stainless steel sand pump. Generally, the design of the inlet Angle and outlet Angle of the impeller has a significant impact on impeller wear. If the inlet Angle is too large or too small, as the mixed liquid flows, when the abrasive particles reach the inlet of the impeller, due to the change in movement direction from axial to radial, and under the effect of inertia and centrifugal force, the particles are prone to concentrate at the rear cover plate. The part of the impeller blade head close to the rear cover plate will be severely worn, and the change in the inlet Angle will be exacerbated. This leads to an intensification of wear and tear at this location. Similarly, when the outlet Angle is not properly selected, the abrasive particles will flow to the outlet of the impeller along with the liquid flow, and their movement direction will also change, which will cause wear near the outlet Angle of the impeller blades.

The main aspects of wear on the impeller of a stainless steel sand pump are as follows

1. Within a lower concentration range, the wear intensity of the pump wheel blades is directly proportional to the concentration of the solid particles being conveyed. The higher the concentration, the smaller the unit wear amount, and the more economical it is to pump the slurry.

2. The main wear zone caused by large-sized abrasive particles is close to the blade head, while the main wear zone caused by small-sized abrasive particles is close to the outlet section of the blade pressure surface.

3. The inlet Angle of the blade has a significant impact on the wear intensity, while the outlet Angle has little effect, but it affects the degree of local wear. When the outlet Angle is too small, wear tends to concentrate in the outlet section of the blade, while when the outlet Angle is too large, severe wear occurs along the pressure surface of the blade. Reasonable selection of blade parameters not only helps to improve the hydraulic performance of stainless steel sand pumps, but also enhances their wear resistance.

4. The wear intensity of the pump wheel blades is in a fifth power relationship with the pump speed. In the design of stainless steel sand pumps, a lower speed should be preferred as much as possible, especially when transporting high-concentration solid materials.
